The Great Outdoors Church has a Thanksgiving (and Christmas) Dinner tradition that is neat.

The event is held in the Fellowship Hall

Socializing at The Great Outdoors Church Fellowship Hall

You sign up in advance individually or in a group and seating is at tables of ten

Dinner tables set for ten

The church provides turkeys and volunteers take the turkeys home to prepare them. Shortly before dinner, the turkeys are returned to be sliced and served.

Each couple brings a dish (vegetable or salad) to serve ten. Some also bring desserts to share, mostly pies. Sugar free desserts get a lot of respect.

Plenty of Dessert

And of course there are beverages.

Lots to drink but remember this is a church

Someone gives the blessing. Then we all enjoy the feast with our friends and neighbors.

Every year we complain about eating too much but we do it anyway.
