The Great Outdoors RV Park, Titusville, FL
From 26 January to 24 April 2012 I built my fishing boat. I have created a separate blog on this project with great detail on the construction project. So for here I will just include a few pictures that represent major milestones in the process.
The boat is known as an Elegant Punt. It was designed by Harold Payson as one of a series of "instant" boats that could be built by a layman with no special tools or fixtures. It is made from two sheets of 1/4 inch plywood.
Start with two sheets of 1/4 inch plywood |
The Midship Frame is the key piece to the construction of this boat |
The sides are glued and screwed to the Midship Frame |
I used the Spanish Windlass technique to draw the sides in to fasten the bow and stern panels |
The bottom is attached and glued and screwed in place. Clamping was difficult. |
The "Thwart" or seat runs long ways from bow to stern |
I was able to get one coat of primer inside and outside before we left TGO |
I also had to design and build a transport carrier for the boat |
By the end of April we were packed up and ready to go |
